Religion
Though a person of faith, I will not impose my religious views on you nor seek to write them into legislation
What does this mean?
For many people, their religion is centrally important to who they are. That is, in fact, the case with me. But I am thankful that our government must be guided by the First Amendment which prohibits the intermingling of religion and government, and prevents our government from favoring or dis-favoring any religion or religious belief. That protects all of us, whatever our beliefs. A government that can discriminate against any religion (such as banning Muslims) can discriminate against your religion or mine. Churches should be free to preach and teach their doctrines and promote their beliefs without government interference, but no church should expect government to incorporate their beliefs into laws, or to punish those who do not accept them. I will not discuss religion in my campaign.
